The Medical Assistance Transportation Program, also known as MATP, provides transportation to medical appointments for Medical Assistance recipients who do not have transportation available to them. The individual’s county of residence will provide the type of transportation that is the least expensive while still meeting their needs. By living in Allegheny County and receiving Medicaid, you may be eligible for free public transportation (bus, subway, incline) ahead of time tickets, or reimbursement for your use of public transportation/private vehicle, or free door-to-door service when medically necessary via a shared ride.
