APRI Education Fund
Education
Training and Development
The Pittsburgh A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) Education Fund is an affiliate of the national organization, A. Philip Randolph Institute; however, this separate 501(c)(3) works to provide programs that extend democracy, education, and opportunity to those traditionally disenfranchised or discouraged from participation. While APRI chapters throughout the country primarily focus on voter and public policy efforts, the local Pittsburgh APRI Education Fund also offers community-based programming focused on improving employment opportunities for minorities and the traditionally disenfranchised. This is largely due to their relationship with the United Steelworkers (USW), who strongly desire, to empower people through social and economic justice. Therefore, they partnered with Pittsburgh APRI to provide predominately African-American communities with skills that would lead to meaningful and family sustaining employment.
